What I do

Running a small business is hard enough without trying to keep your books up to date at night or on weekends.

I provide remote bookkeeping services for Canadian small businesses who want clear, accurate books without the stress.

  • Monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Transaction categorization and cleanup
  • Payroll administration support
  • Ongoing QuickBooks or Xero maintenance
  • Accountant-ready books for year end

Your books are kept current, organized, and ready when your accountant needs them.

Common problems I help solve

Falling behind on bookkeeping

Weeks or months of uncategorized transactions can quietly build up and become overwhelming.

Not knowing what you can afford to pay yourself

When your numbers are unclear, decisions around income become stressful and uncertain.

Too much time spent on admin instead of clients

Time spent inside bookkeeping software is time not spent serving clients or growing your business.

My role is to take this off your plate and give you clarity without judgment.

Who this is a good fit for

I work with small businesses across Canada, including service based professionals and solo operators.

I have particular experience working with:

  • Therapists and wellness practitioners
  • Independent professionals and consultants
  • Small service businesses that use QuickBooks or Xero

If you value clear communication, predictable monthly processes, and steady progress, this will be a good fit.

Pricing

Monthly bookkeeping packages are simple and predictable.

Packages start at $350 CAD per month, with pricing based on transaction volume and business complexity.

  • Starter
  • Growth
  • Established

Full package details and pricing are available on the Fees page.

Credentials and tools

  • QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor Advanced Certified
  • Xero certified
  • FreshBooks Accounting Partner Program, in progress

I work directly inside your accounting software and follow best practices to keep your books clean and consistent.

Clear professional boundaries

To avoid confusion and protect clients, it is important to be clear about scope.

I do not provide:

  • Tax filing
  • Tax advice
  • Accounting opinions or financial consulting

Your accountant receives clean, accurate books and handles tax and advisory work separately.

A real person doing the work

Hi, I am David Crawford, and I personally handle all bookkeeping work.

Your books are not passed between staff or outsourced. The same person works on your file every month, which keeps things consistent and reduces errors.

You can learn more about my background and experience on the About page.

Autism friendly and low pressure

This is an autism friendly service.

Communication is clear and predictable, processes are consistent, and initial contact is handled by email, not sales calls. If you prefer written communication and a straightforward working relationship, you are welcome here.

About Crawford Bookkeeping

Crawford Bookkeeping provides remote bookkeeping services for small businesses across Canada. The focus is simple, accurate books, handled consistently and without unnecessary complexity.

A real person doing the work

My name is David Crawford, and I personally handle all bookkeeping work.

When you work with Crawford Bookkeeping, your books are not passed between staff, outsourced, or rotated between team members. The same person works on your file every month, which keeps things consistent and reduces errors.

This approach works especially well for small businesses that value continuity, predictability, and clear communication.

Professional background

I have been working with computers and financial systems for most of my life, with a background that combines technology, operations, and bookkeeping.

In the early 2000s, I provided bookkeeping services using QuickBooks for a medical practice operating multiple clinics in Ontario. I later served as CEO of a public library system, where I was also responsible for managing the organization’s bookkeeping and financial records.

These roles required accuracy, accountability, and the ability to keep financial records clear for external professionals and stakeholders.

Certifications and tools

  • QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor Advanced Certified
  • Xero certified
  • FreshBooks Accounting Partner Program, in progress

I work directly inside your accounting software and follow best practices to keep your books organized, consistent, and ready for your accountant.

How I work

My approach to bookkeeping is steady and methodical.

Work is done on a predictable monthly schedule, with clear processes and minimal back and forth. Communication is handled primarily by email so that questions and answers are documented and easy to reference later.

This style works well for business owners who prefer clarity over urgency and progress over constant interruptions.

Clear professional boundaries

To keep roles clear and avoid confusion, it is important to be explicit about scope.

Crawford Bookkeeping does not provide:

  • Tax filing
  • Tax advice
  • Accounting opinions or financial consulting

Your accountant uses the books I maintain to handle tax and advisory work.

Autism friendly and low pressure

This is an autism friendly service.

Communication is clear and predictable, processes are consistent, and initial contact is handled by email rather than phone calls. If you prefer written communication and a straightforward working relationship, this environment is designed to support that.

Fees

David Crawford Uncategorised 04 February 2026

Bookkeeping fees

Simple monthly bookkeeping packages for small businesses across Canada. Clear pricing, predictable work, and no surprise add-ons.

How pricing works

Bookkeeping fees are based on the time and consistency required to keep your books accurate and up to date.

Pricing is determined primarily by:

  • Monthly transaction volume
  • Number of bank and credit card accounts
  • Payroll activity
  • Current condition of your books
  • Ongoing complexity, not revenue

All work is billed as a flat monthly fee so you always know what to expect.

Monthly packages

Starter, from $350 CAD per month

Best for small businesses with low to moderate transaction volume who want consistent monthly bookkeeping.

  • Monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Transaction categorization
  • Ongoing QuickBooks or Xero maintenance
  • Email based communication
  • Accountant-ready books

Growth, from $550 CAD per month

Designed for growing businesses with higher transaction volume or additional complexity.

  • Everything in Starter
  • Higher transaction volume support
  • Multiple bank or credit card accounts
  • Payroll administration support
  • Ongoing cleanup and consistency checks

Established, from $750 CAD per month

For established businesses with steady activity, multiple moving parts, or a need for closer monthly attention.

  • Everything in Growth
  • Higher volume or more complex workflows
  • Priority handling
  • Closer coordination with your accountant

Cleanup and catch-up work

If your books are behind or disorganized, cleanup or catch-up work may be required before moving to a monthly package.

Cleanup work is scoped separately and priced based on the condition of your books and the amount of work required.

Once cleanup is complete, ongoing monthly pricing applies.

What is included

All monthly packages include:

  • Consistent monthly bookkeeping
  • Clear and predictable processes
  • Email based communication
  • Books prepared for your accountant

What is not included

To keep roles clear and avoid confusion, the following services are not provided:

  • Tax filing
  • Tax advice
  • Accounting opinions or financial consulting

Your accountant handles tax and advisory work using the books I maintain.

Getting started

If you are interested in working together, the first step is a short email conversation to understand your business and current bookkeeping setup.

There are no sales calls. Initial contact is handled by email.
